2. Salt-water gargle

Mix half- a teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. Stir the solution till the salt dissolves properly. You can allow the solution to cool to a temperature you could tolerate before you gargle.  (These remedy is effective in treating sore throat and cough).

To gargle: Let the mixture (or salt and water) sit at the back of the throat for some seconds or up to a few minutes before spitting it out. Do this over again for several times each day until the cough improves.  Do not swallow the salt solution after the gargle.

Note: Children cannot do this properly, so use another remedy for them.

 

3. Ginger tea + (warm water or ginger horny syrup)

Dice or cut 20–40 grams (g) of fresh ginger slices into a pan and add a cup of water and boil. Allow to steep for a few minutes before drinking.

4. Lots of Drinking Water

When symptoms include cold or flu be sure to warm-up the water: this will benefit your system the more and will also quicken the healing process.

Bromelain is an enzyme that is present in pineapples; this enzyme is most plentiful at the stem or the core of the fruit. Bromelain is indicated to help relive cough.

A serving (a slice or two) of fresh pineapple fruit will supply the needed enzyme. The fruit could also be juiced or blended.  Drink 3-5 ounce of the juice as frequent as 2-4 times daily. This will do the wonderful work of healing.

 

6. Steam Bath

Hot shower or steam bath will prove an immediate relief to catarrh and cough. Close windows and door and all vent system to retain the steam. Let the room be filled with hot steam; do not be quick to leave the bathroom after bath. Make sure to drink a glass of water afterward, warm water preferably, as to prevent dehydration.

An alternatively treatment to the steam bath is to make a steam bowl.

Fill a large bowl with hot water and add an essential oil (either of eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint [all are Amazon affiliate offers]) or some aromatic herb. Bend over the bowl (containing the hot water and minty oil, then you place a towel over the head.  Do this for 4 to 6 minutes.

If the vapor feels burning hot on the skin, please suspend treatment until the skin cools down.

7. Slippery elm Tea
